Guides are in English for now. The rest of the site is translated.
You pick a type when you add a vehicle. Any vehicle with a registered number plate can be claimed. This guide lists the types, what every claim needs, and the limits that apply to an account.
- Car. A private car.
- Cab or taxi. A car that carries paying passengers.
- Two wheeler. A scooter or a motorcycle.
- Bus. A school bus, a staff bus or a city bus.
- Truck. A goods vehicle of any size.
- Other. Anything else with a registered plate, such as an auto rickshaw.
What every claim needs
- The plate number, typed as it appears on the vehicle. Spaces and capitals do not matter. If the format looks unfamiliar, the guide on reading a number plate shows the usual layouts.
- A clear photo of the registration certificate, called the RC. It names the registered owner and carries the plate.
- A photo of the vehicle that shows its plate.
- A wait while a person at ATAP checks both against each other. Nothing is approved automatically.
Who can claim
The person or the organisation named on the RC. A vehicle has one verified owner at a time, and alerts and replies go to that account only.
Limits
One account holds up to 10 vehicles. Each vehicle can have up to 5 active stickers at once, which leaves room for a second window or a replacement. A sticker you switch off is gone for good and cannot be linked again.
Which sticker goes on which vehicle
ATAP prints two shapes. A small hexagon, called Hex, suits private cars and cabs. A larger card, called Plate, suits fleets and schools. For two wheelers, buses, trucks and other vehicles we have not settled which shape fits best, and we will not guess before the print and scan trial has shown what reads from a distance.
If you run a school, a rental or a fleet, the guide on schools and fleets explains how a roster helps when you hold many vehicles.
